WATERWAY, TO SING THE SPACE

The way of the Jedovnice creek: connection with the spring Falling into the underground halls and back to the light. The Water Way is an intermedial poem that is concerned to the element of water, character of its way through the landscape and its presence in the landscape. Since the type of work I most prefer is the work in the landscape, I am returning back to the natural landscape, strong places in Moravian karst near Brno. The audiovisual poem is primarily focused on the moment of melting. Sublimation of ice from the ice shelter, ephemeral phenomena on the surface, such as miniature whirls, waves, rays of sunlight and especially moonlight. The poem focuses on the possibilities of transferring the experience with a specific place, and the events in a unique, unrepeatable time and space into the theatrical scene and possibilities of the musical and audiovisual interpretation of such experience. I work with digital media (video mix and audiostop) to transfer the artist's physical experience in a unique time and unique natural setting into the scenic form of the work. Considering the physical and symbolic qualities of the water element, I have abandoned the composition of the event in the classical sense.
Study of gas influence on chemical processes initiated by electrical discharge in liquids

This thesis in the theoretical part focuses on the gas influence on chemical processes initiated by electrical discharge in liquids. This part described the possible diagnostic methods of reactive particles whitch are produced in water solutions after plasma treatment. The influence of different experimental conditions, such as the influence of gas, effect of voltage polarity, effect of electrolyte of hydrogen peroxide formation were studied. The comparison of selected two gases with different property, argon and oxygen, were realized. The effect of pH in phosphate solution was studied. This solutions are able to maintain relatively stable pH during the experiment and due to this property phosphates are very perspektive for medical applications.

This application is mashup. The work describes applied technologies, design of web application and shows the implementation of some parts of the application.
The housing bubble in China

Language: English Title: The Housing Bubble in China Abstract: This paper studies the housing price boom in recent decade since 2003 in China. The study focuses on four municipalities of China, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Chongqing. Despite the fact that the whole country is suffering a sky soaring housing boom, this paper reveals a regional difference between two types of big cities. Better developed cities such as Beijing and Shanghai are experiencing greater volatility in the boom and economic fundamentals have less explanatory power to the price increases. Oppositely, less developed cities such as Tianjin and Chongqing have relatively sustainable housing prices which are better supported by economic fundamentals. Finally, this paper concludes that Beijing and Shanghai are experiencing a bubble in the housing prices, if the public expectation on economic growth cannot maintain, the bubble will burst.
Stock Price Bubbles: Identification and the Effects of Monetary Policy

This thesis studies bubbles in the U.S. stock market and how they are influenced by monetary policy pursued by the FED. Using Kalman filtering, the log-real price of S&P 500 is decomposed into a market-fundamentals component and a bubble component. The market-fundamentals component depends on the expected future dividends and the required rate of return, while the bubble component is treated as an unobserved state vector in the state-space model. The results suggest that, mainly in recent decades, the bubble has accounted for a substantial portion of S&P 500 price dynamics and might have played a significant role during major bull and bear markets. The innovation of this thesis is that it goes one step further and investigates the effects of monetary policy on both estimated components of S&P 500. For this purpose, the block- restriction VAR model is employed. The findings indicate that the decreasing interest rates have a significant short-term positive effect on the market-fundamentals component but not on the bubble. On the other hand, quantitative easing seems to have a positive effect on the bubble but not on the market-fundamentals component. Finally, the results suggest that the FED has not been successful at distinguishing between stock price movements due to fundamentals or the price misalignment.
IMPOSING BIAXIAL STRAIN ON 2D LAYERED MATERIALS BY LIQUID-INDUCED SWELLING OF SUPPORTING POLYMER

2D layered materials promise to revolutionize the field of electronics, photonics, optoelectronics, energy storage, and sensing, etc. 2D materials have exceptional mechanical properties, with critical elongation >10%. Employing the strain to manipulate the electronic structure of these 2D materials could lead to further improvement of their implementation in many aspects. The ease of manipulation of their electronic structure can be one of the critical factors for their utilization in photonic devices. Apart from the strain, which decreases (increases) the bandgap energy at the rate of similar to 100 meV under 1% of biaxial tension (compression), also the layer number causes bandgap energy change of, e.g., 0.5 eV between bulk (1.3 eV) and monolayer MoS2 (1.8 eV). In our work, we focus on using the swelling behavior of PMMA/SU8 polymer in methanol to impose the strain on 2D layered materials. In the first trials, we have shown that it is possible to reach a strain gradient from 0 to similar to 0.5% of biaxial strain via simple swelling of polymer substrates, both for graphene [1] and transition metal di-chalcogenides (TMDC) like MoS2. Raman spectroscopy was used to probe the lattice strain in the materials through measuring changes of vibrational frequencies, and photoluminescence was used to probe the strain-induced bandgap character and energy in TMDC at room temperature. The surface corrugation of the 2D material after the soaking was recorded with the help of atomic force microscope (AFM).
Application of Hydrodynamic Cavitation in Brewing.

We have applied such advantages in the brewery industry. Venturi jet system is chosen as the HC technique due to energy saving and\nrobust design. In the field of beer brewing, we would like to investigate several phenomena, such as the isomerization of bitter hop acids,\nthe reduction of gluten concentration or the cell walls breakdown. All these experiments will be performed on the already constructed experimental brewery system.

Multiphase Flow of Taylor Bubbles in Rectangular Microchannels.

The aim of this work is to broaden our knowledge of the behavior of Taylor bubbles in a coflowing liquid inside flat microchannels with a high aspect ratio. The primary focus is put on the near-wall region, which is difficult to study both experimentally or numerically. The investigated quantities are the thickness of a liquid film separating the bubble from the microchannel wall, wall shear stress induced by the bubble movement, and the shape and velocity of the translating bubble.
